PHUKET: Police have reacted quickly to recover the gold necklet of an Australian tourist and arrest the ladyboys katoey who stole it last night.
According to officers at Karon Police Station, an offer from the boyfriend of one of the ladyboys of a bribe of 30,000 baht was turned down.
The Australian man was out walking with his family along the beach road at Karon about 8.30pm, heading to do some shopping.
While he was walking, a ladyboy accosted him and gave him a kiss. As the kiss was delivered, the necklet vanished from around his neck.
The tourist went straight away to Karon Police Station.
Security cameras showed two ladyboys running to a white Honda Jazz that drove off, heading towards Patong to the north along the island's holiday coast.
Officers traced the vehicle and found it parked outside the Royal Paradise Hotel.
By 12.30am, officers had arrested and were interviewing three ladyboys. An offer of 30,000 baht to free them was turned down, police said.
