Phuket Killer Shoots Woman in Head Outside Chalong Pub in Drive-by Slaying
By Sert Tongdee Friday, May 16, 2014
PHUKET: A woman was killed with a single shot to the head as she was walking near Chalong Circle in southern Phuket early today.
Police say witnesses saw the killer fire from a pickup about 4am, hitting Nuchsika Krasik, 35, in the left temple and killing her instantly.
Although the brutal slaying bore the hallmarks of an execution, officers say the woman, mother of at least one child, had not previously been brought to their attention for any reason.
Khun Nuchsika, from Ranong, was outside the Sarapanpleng pub in Patak Road, when she was shot dead.
She had walked a short distance from the King Kaew Karaoke, where she walked as a waitress, to meet a friend at the pub.
The pickup continued heading towards Chalong Circle. Both venues had closed for the night.
Chalong Police Superintendent Colonel Krittipas Detintharasorn said today it was possible that the shot was intended for the pub, not for Khun Nuchsika's head.
The pub, which is reputed to be owned by police, was the scene of a murder two years ago. Owners changed the name after the death.
Khun Nuchsika's body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket City.

I live close enough to this pub to hear their excessively loud music and there's been far more trouble than is being reported.
It was also built right next to an apartment building in an residential area and it begs the question how on earth was such an entertainment establishment allowed to be set up in such a location.
The ownership basis will undoubtedly explain a lot.
I should be closed down immediately.

After you are closed down, ThaiMike, who will complain about the noisy pubs and karaokes?
What a ridiculous reply to thaimike. He is given you first hand knowledge of this place. Your answer is astonishing and childish.

My answer is based on the lack of a letter in ThaiMike's response, Ciaran. Hardly ''astonishing'' or ''childish.'' But it does show I have what you lack: a sense of humor.
AM, you clearly love journalism where you present news to people. I do not know why you alienate some of your readers who are the reason you are a journalist? Please show people respect. I also submitted a comment about China lack of human rights, an issue you are keen to improve generally globally but you did not print it?

Journalists are trained to respect the opinions of people who know what they are talking about, FF. The problem with some commenters is they not only have no idea what they are talking about, they also have no respect for a quality news service delivered to them for free. Let me spell that for you: f-r-e-e. Some of them even expect me to update their comments instantly, day in, day out, for f-r-e-e, and then complain if that doesn't happen. Would you believe that?
Journalism is about changing the world. It has absolutely nothing to do with anonymous, self-interested opinion-givers.
Ed,

True. If only earlier commenters had absorbed that point. But before the feminists descend, Bjorn, she was actually a woman, not a girl.
When you have to explain the sarcasm, it must feel like the effort is somewhat wasted, almost nightmarish!

Sarcasm is reserved for speech, Manowar. If you find it in text, it's all in your head. Fun is legitimate in speech or text.
And why is this Pub open 04.00 in the morning, because it`s a Police man it`s the owner like the most off the bar in this street why ??

As the article says, both establishments were closed. We don't know what time they closed.
Ed, if you don't want to read comments for free don't do it or make it a fee paying service. Clearly you believe that delivering news gives you the satisfaction that warrants a free news service, comments are an additional extra but I agree there are some idiots out there but at the same time constructive comments should be welcomed even if not agreed with. A very tragic story this article and I drove down that road some 5 hours earlier.

Well then we need to send an email to Chaucer, Voltaire, Twain and Shakespeare that no sarcasm was deduced from the context of their writings.

Plays are written with all sorts of inflections, including sarcasm. Prose is not. Why? It doesn't work. Readers just guess it's there. Tongue in cheek, yes. Sarcasm? It's not possible to achieve in prose.
Certainly can tell when Morison is off the desk, PW Editor retorts are not only bizarre, but border on the kind of inanity only an ESL writer could achieve; "sarcasm impossible to achieve in prose.." Disagree strongly. Case in point;
Can't wait for the next golden nugget O' expert English language commentary from Man O' War.

There are certainly cases where someone writes: ''Oh no, not her again,'' the editor said in a sarcastic tone.' But on its own, ''Oh no, not her again'' carries no detectable edge of sarcasm in print. Nor does your gem of prose. Good luck with your fruitless hunting.
I read ThaiMike's first post 4 times before I noticed the missing "t".
All is explained now.

'Nothing ThaiMike writes deserves to be read four times, Smithy,' he wrote without a hint of sarcasm.
A poor woman is murdered, yet some readers incredibly infatuate on nitpicking nuances of rhetoric and semantics, but all the Shakespearian word play ever devised can't bring the victim back to life. Super Ego and testosterone are the bane of MANkind, for Thai and farang alike. Outside of superficial looks and melanin content, little divides the two races. Signed. ME ME ME first

With Thailand ranked number THREE in the world (behind only South Africa and Columbia) for fatalities by gunfire, its amazing there aren't more of these tragic stories. Yet ironically, the majority of fatalities in Thailand are caused by sharp ( or blunt ) instruments. Reason enough to maintain as low a profile as possible in Amazing Thailand.

Similar troubles could be avoided if the police started to do his duty. I remember there was a dead even at ICON pub 5 in the morning a few years ago. Close at the right time like in Bangkok all the nightclubs, bars and karaoke according to Thai law and therefore do not sell alcohol (as per the law of course) would prevent many misfortunes certainly unpleasant and make the life more enjoyable to many others people..

RIP Khun Nuchsika.
Like this other woman in the car. One shot to the head. Some gun would be frightening.
