PHUKET: The Royal Thai Navy has closed a Phuket City hotel, arrested 27 card-players and called in a senior police officer for a please-explain session after a gambling raid last night.
Residents living near the Phuket Town Inn called in the Navy who descended on the hotel last night, arresting the gamblers and calling in the owner of the hotel to explain their presence.
The Superintendent of Phuket City will also be called in to explain why the gambling den was operating on his patch.
Coincidentally, later in the morning Phuket City police raided a house in Sapham and arrested 10 gamblers.
The hotel is in Thepkasattri Road, Talad Yai. Reviews on TripAdvisor are mixed, with one person describing it as ''Bates Motel.''

How many years have raids been conducted to find the phantom casinos on Phuket and amazingly they have always come up empty handed mmmmmm . Thank god the Thai Navy took on this job before any tip off could be forthcoming maybe they will keep their next raid close to their chest as well to prevent any future tip offs who knows maybe a drug search of soi Bangla without the usual media fed tip off the raid might bring some real results rather than the purer than driven snow results we have had in the past good work navy thank god for your honesty
