PHUKET: Two men who aimed to light up the night in Patong with fireworks for Loy Kratong found themselves having a very quiet celebration in police cells last night.
Akom Pokkob, 38, and Nattapong Srichai, 29, were arrested about 1pm yesterday when patrol police checked out their Toyota Vios and found 200 sky lanterns and six packs of fireworks.
The pair confessed that they aimed to sell the sky lanterns - bought for 20 baht - along Patong beach for 100 baht each. The fireworks were also destined to make a tidy profit.
It's unclear how the officers at Kathu Police Station aim to dispose of the illegal items.

I must be missing something here but what did they do that is illegal, selling on the beach? I thought you could sell but not buildings etc. Can they sell along the concrete footpath?

Fireworks are banned on the beach, along with sky lanterns.
