PHUKET: A Russian expat resident and his business partner have donated 200,000 baht to build a police box at a well-known intersection in southern Phuket.

The police box, to be manned 24 hours a day, according to Chalong police, is reported to be an asset for the ''international village'' that Rawai has become.

Property developers Dmitry Belous and his partner Wiroj Kongkaew were at the corner ov Viset and Sai Yuan Roads for the opening ceremony at 10.30am yesterday, along with the Mayor of Rawai, Aroon Sorose and local residents.
