PHUKET: An AirAsia flight made a safe emergency landing at Phuket International Airport this evening after bird strike forced the captain to divert the aircraft.
Flight FD3187 was on its way from Nakhon Si Thammarat to Bangkok when the captain decided Phuket was the better option.
All 153 passengers and six crew left the aircraft safely and were waiting for an alternative flight to take them on to Bangkok, due to depart at 8.30pm.
The original flight departed at 4.20pm and was due in Bangkok at 5.40pm. It landed at Phuket at 5.09pm.
The captain of the Airbus said he believed birds had been sucked into one of the aircraft's jets.
