Khun Mam is believed to have been the main agent for a Phuket drugs overlord

Phuket Drugs Lord Mr Art Named as Police Nab Woman, Haul Worth Seven Million Baht

Sunday, April 19, 2015
PHUKET: Police have nabbed drugs worth seven million baht and arrested a woman who admits to being the agent for ''Mr Art,'' allegedly the Mr Big of drug suppliers to Phuket.

Twenty-seven-year-old Amporn ''Mam'' Kaisorn was caught with 36,000 ya bah methamphetamine tablets valued at five million baht and 874 grams of ya ice valued at two million baht.

A small-time dealer, Tammawat Madda, 34, was arrested first in the Silver Hotel in the Poonpol district of Phuket City with 2 grams of ya ice. A woman with him, Khun Mam, behaved so suspiciously that police went to her home nearby.

There they found the cache of drugs.

After five hours of questioning at Phuket Police Station, Khun Mam confessed to being an agent for ''Mr Art'' on Phuket, dropping drugs wherever he requested around the island at 2000 baht a time.

More interestingly, Phuket Police Commander Major General Pachara Boonyasit said at yesterday's media conference at headquarters in Phuket City that Khun Mam had been arrested over ya bah in 2012 but the case was dropped.

The Anti Money Laundering Office took possession of three million baht in Khun Mam's bank accounts at the time and still has the money, the commander said.

More bank books were seized on Friday.
