PHUKET: A body believed to be that of a missing Russian tourist was washed ashore at Paradise beach, south of Patong, on Phuket's holiday coast early today.
Police and paramedics investigated and took the body to Patong Hospital about 8.40am.
Russian Pavel Mironov, 27, walked into the sea from a small, unnamed beach between Patong and Kalim late at night on Wednesday. He was still wearing a backpack when he was last seen.
His girlfriend, Inna Tsyrenova, 31, told investigating officers that the pair had arrived on Phuket earlier that day.
The couple argued after a few drinks and Mironov headed into the sea as they walked along the beach.
It's expected that Ms Tsyrenova will be asked to make a visual identification of the body.
