PHUKET: Raiders failed to break into two ATM machines outside the Index Living Mall in the bypass road in Phuket City early today.

The attempted heist was discovered about 6.30am.

Police believe the robbers were probably amateurs because they attempted to break in but were beaten by security systems.

One puzzle, though, is how the security camera trained on the SCB and Kasikorn Bank ATMs became disabled.

Police believe at least three people were involved. They hope fingerprint dusting will turn up some suspects.
