PHUKET: An Australian man has been found dead in his apartment on Phuket just a day before his 64th birthday.
The man returned yesterday to Soi Seadragon, off Bangla Road in Patong, feeling tired after a visa run to Malaysia, his Thai wife told officers from Kathu Police Station.
She said she headed out shopping about 7.30pm last night, leaving him to recover on a bed in the apartment above the Autoplus Bar.
When she returned about 10pm, she could not detect a pulse.
An ambulance crew from Patong Hospital was called but told police the Australian had died before they arrived.
The man's wife said he was not in good health and smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol.
Phuketwan has been given his name but will not publish it until relatives have been notified.
