PHUKET: Police on Phuket are looking for wrong-way thieves who tried to break into an ATM early today.
People planning to withdraw money about 6am contacted police to say the SCB cash facility outside the Supercheap Store in Thepkasattri Road had been raided.
Officers found the front of the ATM had been badly damaged, but all the money was intact.
''It looks as though these were amateurs,'' one policeman said. ''They tried to go in through the front when most people know that the money is loaded at the rear of the ATMs.''
Police say there were no security cameras at the machines - possibly the reason why they were chosen - but they are hoping to find a private source that might have footage of the attempted heist.

All ATM's are meant to be fitted with a camera and take photos of you when you insert your card or senses someone there.
Very strange these don't. Maybe the ATM's are just cheap knock-offs from Supercheap.
