Pleased to see arrests. My card was skimmed after visiting in late March, for 20,000 baht. While I do not know if these arrests are related to my card, I am pleased to learn it was probably not locals

These only hold Norwegian passports. The oldest one is either Sri Lankan or Indian. Both of the others are Pakistanis.
They are already crying for the Norwegian authorities to get them out of jail.
Every one of them are originally from India/Pakistan or Sri Lanka.

A person who holds a passport from a particular country is categorised as holding that nationality, Oboy, no matter what their background.
Those names is NOT Norwegians.
If I stay for a short time in Thailand, does that make me a thai?

Unfortunataly our newest arrivals and Norway nationals indeed but genetically not people of Norwegian heritage. India and Arab names. If I was given a choice of having 600.000 immigrants from Africa and the Middle East and 600.000 German storm troopers in Norway I'd prefer the Germans.

Its a pity that so many of the so called refugees are criminals and drug dealers. The prisons are filled to bursting point and 2/3 of the prisoners are of foreign origin in Norway.
Thai people are not in the crime statistics and neither are the Indians.

I really hope they get a very loooooong jail time. Same as I hope the people who skimmer may account in the beginning of this year. They were originally from Algeria but travelled on a French Passport.

People, nationality is irrelevant, they are, if convicted, criminals and "should" suffer the full extent of the law, same as any Thai would... N.B. the comment about Thais was in jest, I had the put it that way to please Ed who hates accepted abbreviations, guessing he doesn't text or tweet.

Sailor - "2/3 in a Norway jail is Norwegians" - Sure, that might be true. Could you please tell me how many percentages of them are born in Norway with ethnic Norwegian parents ?

@Mj, maybe you better contact Anders Behring Breivik, he seem to share your concern and may be able to help you in fulfilling your prejudices...;-)

That's a disgraceful remark, and it accurately reflects the quality of thinking behind most of your contributions, Sailor.
Talking about Mr. Breivik? Did I miss the promissed part 2 of the prison-report?

@Sailor.
First you must read or at least learn to before you make your comments. I wrote ' 2/3 of the prisoners are of foreign origin in Norway'.
You can just Google 'foreign origin', its free.
Lets get back to this case. Are these Norwegian? I am of Malaysian origin, lived most of my life in Norway but still call myself a Malaysian.
Don't misunderstand me. Norway is the best country to live in and I find it very provocating when refugees complain about Norway.

''Ethnic Norwegians'' are capable of committing far worse crimes, Jon. Do you need to be reminded? If new arrivals are treated fairly as equals, they usually respond in the proper fashion. Ever thought that attitudes like yours could actually be the problem?
Criminals come in all shapes, colors and nationalities.
It's easy to point the finger at immigrants if they breach the law but the only relevant comparison is the crime rate among immigrants compared to the native population of similar social status.
If it is significantly higher then the nation in question needs to look into the reasons for this.
Something I know my country does and I'm sure many others do too. If they had discovered something alarming, this would certainly have effected the granting of immigrant status.
Notably Denmark and Holland have taken measures to curb the flow of immigrants and using principles that have drawn some criticism.
The fact is that in Europe and especially in Scandinavia the birth rate cannot keep up with the needs of the aging population.
Immigration is one solution to this problem. Japan is a good Asian example of having to struggle with this issue.

Immigrants is actually not behind most of the crime in Norway, but foreigners coming there due to the expansion of the Schengen cooperation. When that's said show statistics that immigrants are overrepresented in crime statistics and higher than the general population in Norway.
