Photos at the scene show the man had his nose and both ears cut off - possibly to prevent identification, or as torture before death. A round penetrative wound to his head may have caused death.

PHUKET: Police have yet to determine the identity of the body of a man found about 10.30am today on a beach at Nai Yang, inside the Sirinath National Park.
The body, found by local residents and dressed only in a pair of black briefs, had wounds to the nose and ears. Police took the body to Thalang Hospital.
Officers believe the man is Thai or Burmese. Their investigations are continuing.
