PHUKET: A strong gust of wind may have swept the driver of a three-wheeled motorcycle to his death under a parked truck, Phuket police said today.
Pradab Srisongkram, 64, died instantly from neck injuries when his sam laew smashed into the parked truck about 4am today.
Police believe a gust of wind may have caught the canopy of his vehicle as he was about to pass the parked truck.
Investigations were continuing, Lieutenant Thanom Thongpan said today.
''The truck driver, heading south, said he parked under a light pole on Thepkasattri Road in Mai Khao,'' Lt Thanom said today.
''He slept in the truck because it was difficult to drive in heavy rain.
''He said he was awoken by a thud at 4am but thought nothing of it and went back to sleep.''
The driver was awoken again at 4.30am by police who told him about Khun Pradab's tragic death. Khun Pradab, a squid vendor, had been motoring to his daughter's home near Phuket International Airport.
