PHUKET: The first death in Phuket's Seven Days of Danger came at 12.10am today when the allegedly drunk driver of a Mercedes crashed into a motorcycle, killing the rider instantly.
Mercedes driver Chaichana Seaong, 40, is likely to face severe charges over killing Anoma Meungpanit, 24, in Kwang Road, which runs between Chao Fa Road East and Chao Fa Road West, to the south of Phuket City.
The death came 10 minutes into Day Two after no deaths were recorded in Day One.
Two tourists were, however, among the eight people admitted to hospital from eight crashes - twice the number recorded on Day One last year.
Canadian Peter Blaemert, 25, was admitted to Patong Hospital after a crash in major conduit Phrabaramee Road, while Vietnamese Mr Sen, 42, was involved in a single-vehicle smash and was admitted at 8.40pm.
An appeal is being made for O plus blood donors to give at Vachira Phuket Hospital where Tantima Thaworn, the driver of the Ford Fiesta involved in a collision with a Russian tourist bus, is remains in the intensive care unit.

I've never seen any follow up stories of anyone going to prison for bad driving/man slaughter.
Can you confirm people have?

Based on articles in national newspapers, yes of course they have. On Phuket it's difficult to devote the time and energy to pursuing the outcome of everyday cases of the kind that occur around the world. Some proceed. Others do not.
