Man Rescued from Patong Surf Admits to Drinking Alcohol

Sunday, August 25, 2013
PHUKET: A man who was rescued from the surf at Patong today admitted to drinking on the beach with friends.

Jurachai Junmanee, 24, got into difficulties after taking a break from his job at Galaxy Pub for a beach picnic with seven friends.

Khun Jurachai required resuscitation after being pulled from the water and was sent to Patong Hospital for observation.

Governor Maitree Intrusud this week gave endorsement to a plan for a Coastal Water Safety Summit in October that it's hoped will improve awareness and save more people from drowning on Phuket.

Hopefully he will make a full recovery. Good that the emergency services got to him quick enough to save him.

This is one thing I have never understood, alcohol and beaches don't go together, so why is there so many vendors on the beach selling it?
not to mention the lack of signage telling of the dangers of doing both for the seemingly copious amont of people with no common sense.
