Marital law imposed: Without a work permit, it's an offence on Phuket

Illegal Wedding Snappers Nabbed at High Shutter Speed in Old Phuket Town

Thursday, May 22, 2014
PHUKET: Perhaps there's some confusion between martial law and marital law. Marital law also seems to have been imposed on Phuket.

Visa runners who overdo it are certainly being targetted. And if you happen to be visiting a Phuket scenic spot and you spy a couple posing for pre-wedding shots, best keep your camera in its holster.

The latest pair to be arrested for taking wedding photos without work permits are Bolin Zhu, 27, and Jing Wang, 22, who were nabbed as they pressed their shutter yesterday in Soi Romanee, the charming Bohemian lane that runs off Thalang Road in Old Phuket Town.

The two Chinese snappers confessed and said they charged 1500 baht for each location that the bride and groom chose around scenic Phuket.

The two men are likely to be fined by Phuket Provincial Court then handed to Immigration officers for deportation.

''Something borrowed, something blue, something old something new . . . '' and a photographer or two arrested before the big day seems to be a popular new ditty for blissful Chinese couples as the number of illegal snappers arrested continues to grow.
