PHUKET: A Russian man who scammed 100,000 baht from ATMs on Phuket told police it was his first involvement with the racket.
Police nabbed Nicolai Petrishin, 27, at the Novotel Resort in Kamala with about 50 fake cards, it is alleged. Mr Petrishin told police another unnamed Russian kept most of the proceeds.
He arrived on Phuket on September 28 and had been due to fly out on October 10.
''I am just the guy who takes the money out,'' he told officers from Kamala Police Station.
Police, alerted by Kasikorn Bank officials to the illegal withdrawals, believe there could have been more cases involving Mr Petrishin during his Phuket ''holiday.''

It seems that for save withdrawals banks and shopping centres just have ATM only inside banks/shops, not outside. Problem solved. Or inform customers it is more save to use the ATM inside, not outside.
