PHUKET: Two grenades were found today by a Burmese gardener clearing weeds from a roadside in southern Phuket.
The gardener, Khun Ae, contacted his supervisor who called Chalong police who in turn called in Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers.
Unlike the last grenade that was found in a package on an east coast Phuket beach on October 28, disposals officers did not don protective suits today.
The chief of the unit said he thought the grenades, in a transparent bag, may have been discarded and forgotten by a gang in Soi 18, off Sailuan Road.
The M 26 A 2 grenades were taken away in a bucket filled with sand.

Hmm, there was a gang who had grenades here, at such quantities that they just "forget" 2 of them ?
Obviously there's a bit more to this story than meets the eye.

Nobody can say for sure. But grenades have gone off on Phuket in the past in the hands of at least one idiot who thought holding one in a group of friends was smart. These grenades are likely to have been discarded by people who realised there was no machismo associated with keeping one or two handy. Be glad they're out of circulation.
