PHUKET: A speedboat went sailing last night - right off its trailer and onto the median strip as the driver's Fortuner took a sharp corner on Phuket's main road.
It was remarkably plain sailing. The trailer unhooked from the Fortuner and the speedboat was launched from the trailer.
In normal circumstances, the speedboat would hit the roadway and be smashed to smithereens.
Last night as the driver took the Ban Duk bend - downstream from the notorious Koh Eng curve - perhaps a little too fast about 6pm, the voyage hit the rocks.
Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers anticipated picking up the pieces.
Somehow, the vessel has been grassed but showed no signs of being damaged by the experience. Even the trees in the median strip had been avoided, very narrowly.
Within an hour, the speedboat's owner had called in a crane and with everything shipshape, he resumed his course, south towards Phuket City.

Driver going too fast, NO. It was the bend in the road that was the problem.
