PHUKET: Phuket Province has initiated the Innovation OTOP Phuket campaign in cooperation with related agencies, to push forward local floral products.
The Governor of Phuket Nisit Jansomwong has chaired the opening of the Knowledge Based OTOP (KBO) conference and signed the Innovation OTOP Phuket cooperation agreement with the related agencies and OTOP entrepreneurs in the province at Royal Phuket City hotel.
He has said that this campaign will see the integration of all sectors for the development of the province's OTOP products, especially products made from 'Som Kwai' or Garcinia atroviridis.
Products made from the local fruit include soap, shampoo, scrub, and foot deodorant.
The campaign was designed to generate more income for the local communities and to increase Phuket's OTOP and SME entrepreneurs' competitiveness, which is in line with the Ministry of Interior's policy, the Phuket Governor has said.
The agreement calls for signers to help conserve Garcinia atroviridis plants by reducing deforestation and promote tree planting.
The campaign will also help design, develop, and support 'Som Kwai' products as the province's key product.
The agreement also calls for the creation of the Knowledge Based OTOP, to create more employment and income through public participation under the sufficiency economy philosophy.
