PHUKET: A woman reported to police in the southern Phuket district of Chalong that she had found her Canadian boyfriend hanging by the neck when she returned to their Rawai home on Thursday.

On visiting the Rawai home, officers discovered the 29-year-old man's body. The woman told police she cut him down, severing a nylon cord, when she found him hanging from a ventilator in a toilet about 2pm.

Police could find no signs of wounds on the body and no indication of foul play. They were told by the woman that the man had complained he could not give up a drug habit.

Phuketwan has been supplied with the man's name but will not publish it until we can be certain that relatives have been informed of his death.

People suffering from depression are advised to talk to family and friends about their problems or go to a doctor.
