Will Dayble suddenly realized he had to track down an elephant, plug in his electric guitar, climb up and perform a solo on its back.
This dream led to some inquiries, one of which landed in the inbox of a Phuketwan editor, with the subject line ''What may potentially seem like a weird request . . . '' You can say that again.
Mr Dayble is now doing some research and planning, and is set to come to Phuket soon to fulfill his dream.
He says he has already saved a few thousand Australian dollars for the trip, too.
The obvious question of ''Why?'' brings a response that one would expect from a man of odd visions: ''Because I would be doing a guitar solo on an elephant.
''The zen of the situation is that the desire starts and ends with this fact. I woke up one day and decided I would do this.''
Will's day job is art direction and he also dabbles in DJ production and rock bands.
He is also planning to do the trip solo, and is still hunting for a place to stay, a generator, and, of course, a willing elephant.
As his dream inches towards reality, some hesitation is setting in, but he remains determined. ''Yes, I'm actually going to go through with this,'' he says.
''I'm as terrified of this fact as anyone.''
While the initial reaction to an elephant-back guitar solo is ''Why?'', further consideration makes one think, ''Why not?''
