Governor Nisit Jansomwong visited four potential bottlenecks over the weekend and later called for every practical assistance to keep Phuket's traffic flowing for the big event from November 14-23.
The Central Festival Phuket underpass is 86 percent complete rather than the 100 percent that Phuket officials had hoped might be achieved. It could be finished by the New Year, but that won't help Games visitors.
The Tesco-Lotus intersection is also a bottleneck at times, with construction of Phuket's second underpass still underway. All obstructions are to be removed and potholes filled as part of a temporary fix.
Governor Nisit has also ordered the Highways Department to make traffic flow as efficiently as possible through the Kor Kaew u-turn intersection and the bypass road t-junction with Thepkasattri Road.
Governor Nisit's main message: ''I hope that traffic will flow and that this will make a good image for Phuket.''
The Highways Department reckons they might be short a staffer or two because some people have been seconded to drive VIPs around Phuket during their Games stay.
So it takes some games to carry out works that should be mandatory throughout construction, further more I don't understand why they are not working 24/7, you would have thought all concrete pours would be preped through the day and poured at night when traffic is at a minimum.
