PHUKET: A Chinese tourist about to enter Phuket International Airport was injured by flying glass when a runaway car mounted the footpath and crashed tonight.
The woman driving the Nissan told police that she went to brake but her foot slipped onto the accelerator.
The car pushed luggage trolleys into large airport window panes, breaking several of them.
The unusual crash came about 5.55pm on the upper level at the airport where departing passengers are dropped off.
The Chinese passenger, Zhang Shuya, suffered a cut ankle from glass. Nobody else was hurt.
Zhang Shuya was taken to Phuket's Thalang Hospital, where her injury was checked and bandaged. She was returned to the airport in time to catch her flight.
