PHUKET: Thailand's island province is to gain a fireboat to extinguish blazes at sea or on the waterfront. Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong said today the 30 million baht budget for purchasing a vessel to control fires at sea had been approved. It's likely the vessel will be used to protect Phuket's fishing fleet. A fire among tightly packed vessels could cause extensive damage.
