Blaze Rips 10 Shops at Phuket's Kata Plaza: Damage Being Assessed

PHUKET: Damage is being assessed after fire ripped through about 10 clothing and souvenir shops at Kata Plaza on Phuket's Karon beach about 11.25pm last night. Trucks from Patong joined one from Karon and took about 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

My first thought was 'another low season insurance claim' - but then you cannot insure copy goods - can you?

And I always thought the Nepalese were just working for Thais who own the shops. But all I saw were panicking Nepalese bringing their goods into safety. That's not what I expect from underpaid illegal migrant workers. Maybe give them a few buckets and next time they will fill them with seawater and jump into the flames.

Logic, there is some sound logic in that.

I thought exactly the same and I'm sure the inventory list does not have copy goods on it but something non-controversial.
