Bangkok to Phuket Bus Crashes: Three Passengers Serious, 15 Hurt

Saturday, April 4, 2015
PHUKET: Three people suffered serious injuries and 15 others required hospital treatment after a Phuket-bound bus crashed and flipped early today in the neighboring province of Krabi.

The bus, from Bangkok, left the road near Plypaya about 6am with 33 passengers on board.

The driver of the scheduled Central Tour service lost control for reasons that have yet to be revealed.

Injured passengers were ferried to Krabi's Plai Phraya Hospital and Taput Hospital in neighboring Phang Nga province.

Has to be brake failure as usual I often see this as the reason - must be some physical difference with the conditions in Thailand - rarely do the drivers say it is their fault.

"The driver of the scheduled Central Tour service lost control for reasons that have yet to be revealed." I'm guessing it was because he was a crappy driver with no concern for his own safety, let alone the safety of his passengers. It is amazing how often these things crash.

Break failure is for fatal accidents, everything else is not worth to consult a lawyer.

At the same the government push low cost air carrier, and even thinking of methods how to punish them financially, to ruse fares, as they create "not useful competition with inter-province buses", and wants to have even more people to take buses!

How wrong such policy is!

The ar transport is the very safest mean of transportation, and if low cost air
one's, within safety framework manage to offer such good prices that people can afford them and not to go by bus, it is great achievement of the epoch it is indeed a realization of what Air Asia CEO told "Now everyone can fly" meaning exactly that.

Again, as I do with every bus crash, I ask: does the driver have a proper valid driving license for driving a passenger bus?. Did they test him on alcohol and drugs? Has the bus the recent proper maintenance papers? How many drivers on board for such a long road journey?

To, from, or on Phuket, weekly the bus accident tombola happens. Come on, let's stop this brake nonsense. Inform passengers before boarding busses that their lives are in hands of the drivers and the drive could become a disaster. That is very much possible. Right?
