wsj.com The European Union said it had agreed in principle on a sweeping free-trade deal with Vietnam that could create a benchmark for future agreements between the bloc and fast-growing Asian economies. The deal would remove nearly all tariffs on goods traded between the two regions over seven to 10 years, as well as barriers to trade in services, investment and government procurement.

An Indian friend of mine lived and worked in Malaysia for 15 years as an engineer before migrating to Australia. He said behind the facade of respectability Malaysia was a totally corrupt country run by hypocrites who imposed religious values on citizens they themselves ignored in private. He was scathing on so called 'religious police' who would go around trying to catch young couples having a kiss and cuddle in some quiet place. He said they would often beat the man and sexually molest the woman in some misguided religious punishment.
