PHUKET: Two Russian men arrested on Phuket are wanted over drugs and the transfer of illegal immigrants, according to Tourist Police and Interpol.
The men have been hiding out in Krabi and on Phuket for two years, according to the arresting officers.
Roman Ledenev, 33, and Alexander Bukharov, 42, face intensive questioning about their activities in Thailand.
The two entered Thailand with tourist visas. They are wanted under warrants from Interpol and Russian police.
Phuket and the Andaman coast are seen as a haven for criminals because it's easy to merge in with the tourist population that makes the sighting of foreigners usual, not abnormal.
A joint investigation led to the arrests on Friday, with senior Tourist Police flying to Phuket to help local authorities.
