THE OUTLOOK for Phuket is good, says Katchamat Borvornpotsakul, 45, managing director of Surin Park Condominiums.
''There are many really magnificent, world class projects here,'' she says.
Her own baby, Surin Park, is a five-storey boutique development of 24 apartments, on Surin Beach Road not far from the Amanpuri junction.
The location is a good start for any project, with the Chava, Twin Palms and a new Courtyard-branded resort as neighbours. Surin is a prize location in the five-star heart of the island.
''We have good signage. One can't really miss it,'' says Khun Katchamat, who adds that her property industry idol is New York celebrity Donald Trump.
''We are confident that investors who are looking for excellent return on investment will have Surin Park very high on their shortlist.''
Like the Donald, Khun Katchamat is an optimist about the future. ''Phuket, luckily, is quite well cushioned against turmoil because it is not dependent on any single market,'' she says.
''Property investors and home buyers are coming from every corner of the world. My belief is that now we have seen the worst, and Phuket's future is growing brighter again.
''Furthermore, what are the real alternatives in Asia?
''Another advantage is that the construction legislation is getting stricter by the day and in my view it is going to save the natural beauty of our island.
''The administration of Phuket deserves a really big round of applause for this.''
At Surin Park, building is due to begin in December 2007 and expected to take about 12 months.
''People who are familiar with Phuket know and appreciate the unique quality of Surin beach,'' Khun Katchamat says.
''Quite a few buyers are actually planning to live at Surin Park some day while others are buying purely for investment purposes.
''Some of the very top hotels of Phuket are at their doorstep and they are also fully booked almost all year around.
''Surin Park will be managed by us and we'll run it, concentrating on short term rentals only.
''The added benefit is that owners will have more time to enjoy their investments than the case would be on long-term rentals.''
Buyers will have a choice ranging from one-bedroom 71 square metre abodes to three-bedroom 160 square metre penthouses with rooftop terraces.
Sweeping mountain views, maximum privacy and closeness to the beach come with each key.
Khun Katchamat says that Surin Park condominiums will be state of the art example of modern day living, including spacious open-plan design facilitated by sliding doors and terraces.
''Each terrace has a built-in BBQ grill perfect for entertaining or relaxing after a hard day at the beach,'' she says.
Among the common area facilities will be a large freeform swimming pool, tropical gardens, off-road parking, gym, sauna, cafe-restaurant and CCTV, plus an in-house maid service.
