PHUKET: The Phuket Governor's Special Committee on the Environment approved six of seven projects yesterday, giving a strong indication that the building boom on Phuket is continuing.
Patong and Phuket City figure in the latest approvals.
Among the latest to pass environmental examination are the Bay Shore Oceanview, a 70-condominium project at Patong; the Cheewalai Dee, a 48-condo project at Kamala; Phuket@town III, 29 land plots in Phuket City; Baan Pruksa villas, 226 land plots in Phuket City; Icon Park in Kamala, which consists of 52 condos, and a so-far unnamed seven-storey block of 42 condos in Patong, behind Jungceylon.
Labsabai House, a 48-condo project in Phuket City, was not approved because the owner sent a representative rather than appear in person.
Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha chaired the meeting at Provincial Hall in Phuket City. His predecessor, Wichai Praisa-ngob, introduced the committee to rein in environmental approvals that were too easy to obtain.
Since then, approval for the larger projects on and around Phuket has shifted to Bangkok.

Just because a representative for Labsabai House turned up, the project was not approved? What has the person who owns it got to do with it, really?
I mean you have the design, plans and location. Why would the owner have to be there? He is probably busy doing a million other things.
To me it sounds like a power trip - I order you to come and see me, or I will not pass it.....
