PHUKET: Chris Gordon, the owner of the Village Coconut Island development on Koh Maprao, off Phuket's east coast, reveals some changes in a personal message in the latest June Village News.

The last few years have been very tough for most people, including us at The Village. We were promised mainland power over two years ago and it still has not arrived, but we are now confident that by the end of this year it will be on its way.
The problems of running The Village while construction is still ongoing, is almost a thing of the past. All we have left to do is finish the golf course and furnish the last 36 two bedroom pool villas.
Over the last year we involved Absolute to manage our property sales. This has now been terminated. All forms of property sales, will now be managed by our own in house team.
So this is what brings me to what I believe is the most exciting development for The Village and our guests. Since the world financial crisis, which started in 2007, the justification for buying a second home based on capital appreciation and rental return has all but disappeared.
However, there has been a huge growth in Holiday clubs, Timeshare and Partial Ownership. In other words investing in a future lifestyle.
In order for anyone to buy into a lifestyle investment there needs to be ''value''. Many people enjoy holidaying in the same place each year, but ultimately want flexibility of where and when they travel.
So I am delighted to say, that, we are now a fully approved member of Interval International, The World's leading holiday exchange company, with over 2600 properties in 75 countries, featuring many major five-star hotel chains and exclusive resorts.
