PHUKET: The Fisheries and Wiildlife Department wants more environmental reports made on plans to erect two private piers in parts of Phuket that have a resputation for their natural beauty.
The piers, both on the east coast, were planned for Koh Sireh, an island off Phuket's east coast, and Laem Hin, known as a popular destination for Phuket seafood dining.
Phuripat Theerakulpisut, Chief of Phuket's Marine Office 5, lodged no objections to either pier but said some dredging might be necessary for the Laem Hin pier to function properly at 240 metres instead of 400 to 500 metres.
The Koh Sireh pier has been requested by Dusit Mayakan and the Laem Hin pier by Sakwoot Audomsrisak, Vice Governor Dr Sommai Preechasin was told at Provincial Hall in Phuket City.
The Koh Sireh pier has won approval while the Laim Hin pier is awaiting further reports.

That's it, keep on building, never mind the environment. Isn't it lovely to see the way concrete is poured over a once lush and tropical place.
World Class Tourist Destination... in your wildest dreams Phuket.
