PHUKET: Action to clear illegal shorefront occupiers at Nai Yang beach was expected today with Freedom beach among other Phuket spots where public land is rapidly being reclaimed.
Land titles for property along Phuket's ''Millionaire's Mile'' in Kamala are also coming under close scrutiny, along with the deeds to land surrounding an iconic waterfall in Patong where the traditional community once bathed and swam.
Chief of Preservation-Protection at the Royal Forest Department, Cheewapab Cheewatam, said today that the Phuket Land Titles Office has been asked for documents relating to the Pob Rak Cafe and at least one condo block near the waterfall, which has its beginnings in the Nakkerd Forest above Patong.
''We hope to know the outcome before the end of the week,'' Khun Cheewapab, a former director of Phuket's Sirinath National Park, said today.
The Department of Special Investigation and the National Anti-Corruption Commission were part of the investigation over Freedom beach, he said.
''The Phuket Land Titles Office has yet to respond to a request for documents.''
At least three properties - one occupied by a well-regarded five-star resort - are suspect and being questioned along ''Millionaire's Mile.''
