The Phuket students win: a claimant gives up on 20 rai of gifted land

No Need for Help from 'Uncle Prayuth': Claimant to Phuket School Land Concedes

Friday, May 30, 2014
PHUKET: A dispute over land ownership at a Phuket school has been settled without the intervention of coup commander General Prayuth Chan-ocha, officials said today.

About 200 students from Kathuwittaya School in Vichitsongkran Road, near the Caltex intersection on the Phuket City side of Patong Hill, protested yesterday and called on ''Uncle Prayuth'' to intervene on their behalf.

The land claimant placed concrete poles and barbed wire around 20 rai of land being used by the school for a rugby field, agricultural studies and teachers' housing.

Talks with the Director of Kathu District, Saiyai Chanaichaiwong today produced a quick result with the claimant accepting that their parents had gifted the land to the school.

The poles and barbed wire were quickly removed, without the help of ''Uncle Prayuth.''

Chicka chicka nice and quicka. Just the mention of the Generals name is enough to reach a quick settlement that all parties agree to. Keep it up.

So as I understand it, the claimant's parents donated land to the school. Now the claimant is trying to bully the school into undonating it back. I wonder if the parents have passed away. What shameful behaviour by offspring, if indeed the parents have passed away .....

The claim has ended amicably, Geoff. No point in guesswork.

Ed, that telephone number for General Praveen seems to be the number for a doctor....

Any other numbers that we can contact to report illegal activities? - Simon
