PHUKET: Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Pedroni as General Manager of the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort, effective August 1, 2013.
Mr Pedroni, an Irish national with 23 years' experience in hospitality, will report to William Visser, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Vice President Operations, Asia-Pacific.
Before joining Outrigger, Mr Pedroni was with Marriott International, most recently as General Manager of the JW Marriott Resort, Phuket. Prior to that he was with The Renaissance Seoul Hotel, South Korea.
He has held hotel management positions in Kuwait, UK and Washington DC. He has also been a General Manager and Director of Operations at two Hawaii beach resorts for Marriott.
Mr Pedroni, who also speaks French, is a graduate of Newbridge College, County Kildare, Ireland, and HOSTA, Hotel and Tourism College in Leysin, Switzerland. He has also been a hotel owner in his career.
Mr. Edmonstone said: ''Tony combines extensive international hotel industry experience with strong local knowledge on the challenges and opportunities of Phuket beach resort management.
''He will be a great asset to Outrigger as we continue our strategic expansion.''
Mr. Pedroni is married with two sons and is a keen tennis player, golfer and family man.
