PHUKET: Club Med is actively seeking another site in Thailand to rival its iconic property on Phuket on the shores of Kata beach, Phuketwan can reveal.
Club Med CEO, South East Asia and Pacific, Heidi Kunkel, told Phuketwan that the hunt for another suitable property in Thailand was continuing.
''The site will need to be in line with out strategy, our unique positioning,'' she said. No more clues were given but we suspect Krabi could be under scrutiny.
It has been almost 30 years since Club Med arrived on Phuket, and daily flights from Bangkok to Phuket came with the arrival of Club Med.
While the all-inclusive price does not appeal to all travellers, it certainly still attracts many. Ms Kunkel said that Club Med should be at 100 percent capacity this week after being at 80-85 percent last week.
The success of Phuket means the Club Med resort is in a constant state of renewal and renovation, with debate now underway about extending the lease of public land on which part of the resort now sits.
