Telephone number: 087 8935337
Open: 10am-10pm
Address: At Khao Kad, on the road between Cape Panwa and Chalong.
Style and price range: Relaxed Thai beach style, plastic chairs and tables under a thatched roof, with great views across the sand and sea. Inexpensive.
Specialties: Fried fish with chili, grilled fish, fried crab with Indian curry. Regular fresh seafood dishes.
What Khun Pee, the manager, says: It's a great place to come with the family. The kids can run on the beach. There are no high waves on this side of the island. At dinner time, we move tables out under lights close to the water's edge. The road is too far away to hear the noise of passing cars.
What Phuketwan says: Out of the way and, if you like the rustic Thai way of doing things, out of this world. Not hard to get to from Chalong and Phuket's southern outposts. It's even worth a jaunt from Phuket City if the company is right and you want to give visitors a true island experience.
How to find it: About 100 metres north from the Novotel resort on thje Cape Panwa-Chalong Road, down a short track to the beachfront.
Parking: Negotiating the steep track may be best left to four-wheel drives but there's plenty of space along the main road.
