A CONCERT by singer Nantida Kaewbuasai is being held at the Phuket Merlin Hotel in Phuket City on March 7 to raise funds for the children's shelter Phuket Sunshine Village.
The "Ray of Hope" concert starts at 7pm at the Jamjuree Ballroom.
The Lions Club of Phuket Pearl, which is organizing the event, says this about the charity:
"Presently into our club's 18th year of action, we wish to engage our supporters to join us in making a difference in the lives of children in need at the Phuket Sunshine Village, a village for underprivileged children, those affected by the brutal tsunami, from broken homes, low income families and children at risk.
"The Village provides a homely atmosphere and education for every one of them. In other words, the village opens up an opportunity for children to live and learn as children should.
"Our vision is to ensure that the 77 children being raised and educated there can continue to develop their potential, learn how to help themselves and others so they can live happily in society with respect and dignity."
A youth jazz band from British International School and performers from Karen's Dance Academy will also provide entertainment.
Organisers hope to raise at least 600,000 baht and say that donors and sponsors will get recognition at and during the event.
