A crowd of 4000 sees the most complete victory yet for Phuket FC last night

Phuket FC Wins Penalty Shootout Over Premier Side: Photo Special

Wednesday, April 30, 2014
PHUKET: Victory in a penalty shootout over Premier League team Police United last night was the sweetest win of the season so far for Phuket FC.

Although the victory won't add points towards Phuket's own claims to a promotion from Division One to the Premier League, it does highlight the worthiness of the island team's claim.

The Toyota League Cup win leaves Phuket moving on to the round of 16 on June 11.

Former Phuket striker Eduardo ''Dudu'' Purcino scored at his old Surakul Stadium stomping ground for Police United, which didn't thrill the crowd of 4000 as it might have if the Brazilian had stayed at Phuket.

After halftime, Phuket FC's Brazilian midfielder, Eber Henrique, scored the equaliser.

Giving the fans plenty for their money but no victory glee, 30 minutes of extra time followed with no score.

After 120 minutes on the pitch, the match came down to a penalty shootout which Phuket won 3-1, thanks to conversions by Christian Alex, Pyne Soe, and Henrique.

Next up, Phuket FC faces Nakhon Ratchasima, the island club's, fifth game in a fortnight. And with luck, Phuket's fourth win.

Sadly for Phuket no joy against Korat Swat Cats. A very exciting game won 2-0 by Swat Cats, but with the clinching goal only coming in the 93rd minute.
