Phuket FC at full stretch just failed to pull back from a 6-0 drubbing

Phuket FC Valiant in Fightback But Just Lose Rematch 1-0

Saturday, July 28, 2012
PHUKET: First the Good News: If you are following Phuket FC, the good news is that the Islanders are a five-goal better side than they were just two weeks ago.

And now the Bad News: Even with being a five-goal better side in the space of 14 days, Phuket FC still lost tonight's rematch against PTT Rayong 1-0.

Yes, Phuket FC lost 6-0 in the away leg of their Division One match against PTT Rayong just two weeks ago. After that debacle, the old coach resigned.

Soon after, the new coach, local businessman and former national team member Rong ''Noi'' Ajanyoot, stepped up.

With a brace of new players and a new attitude, about 2200 fans turned out at Surakul Stadium tonight to see the new Islanders try their darnedest to overturn the 6-0 result.

There was only one goal in it, but it was enough for PTT Rayong to head for home as winners.

New Phuket FC goalie Kampon Patom-Audkakul from SCG Muanthong United deserves some of the credit for last night's more positive result.

Most fans would have gone home disappointed, but a whole lot happier than they were two weeks back.

And if the Phuket team can improve so much in a fortnight, just imagine what could happen when Phuket take on Krabi on August 5. It could be a massacre.
