PHUKET: THE NEW coach of FC Phuket is reaching for the stars in his bid to put the club back on track for a Division One football premiership - but Phuket's stars are no longer in alignment.

Expat import Choi Jaewon from Korea has resigned to be with his wife in Bangkok after the emotion of losing a pregnancy.

The 25-year-old import has worked tirelessly to help the club, which allowed him to go.

And still recovering from a broken leg is striker Tawin ''Num'' Boodsombut, who became a casualty in FC Phuket's stunning 6-1 defeat of Thai Honda on May 1.

Victories haven't been so easy since. As Bob Dylan would sing, ''Everything is broken'' for FC Phuket.

Rather than give beleagured coach Surachai Jirasirichote more time after four games without a win, FC Phuket fans last weekend chanted for him to go - and go he did, humiliated on the pitch at Surakul Stadium after a 3-0 home defeat to Buriram FC.

New FC Phuket coach Sompong Wattana signed on for the rest of the season during the week, and set himself the stiff task of chalking up a win within three matches.

He rates the chances of FC Phuket on Sunday, playing away against Air Force United FC, as 50-50. FC Phuket is ninth, with Air Force two spots further back.

With one eye on the team and the other eye on the fans - and Choi Jaewon no longer available - the coach will not have an easy time of it, especially if Phuket fails to win again soon.
