PHUKET: Rescues at sea and other adventures will be part of a two day SAREX2015 exercise that the public is invited to watch at Phuket's Deep Sea Port on Friday and Saturday.
Led by the Royal Thai Navy 3 team, 35 organisations from Phuket, Krabi and Phang Nga will be involved in simulations, drills and mock emergencies from 9am-4pm at the port.
Eight vessels and four helicopters will be involved in the displays, designed to sharpen skills and heighten awareness of what has to happen in real incidents at sea.
Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong said it was extremely important to maintain safety at sea and Sarex2015 - short for Search and Rescue Exercise - would help to improve the confidence of tourists in safety and security on Phuket and along the Andaman coast.
There will also be 40 booths at the Deep Sea Port displaying various aspects of marine safety.
The exercise rotates each year to a different division of the Royal Thai Navy.
