Original Report
PHUKET: FC Phuket hope to continue flying high on Sunday in the game against Chiang Mai FC after escaping a long bus ride north, thanks to AirAsia.
Sixth on the First Division ladder with 38 points, the Phuket Hulks reckon they can deal with sixteenth-placed Chiang Mai and continue their late-season climb back into promotional contention.
When the sides met at Surakul Stadium in Phuket City early in the season, Phuket managed a 4-0 drubbing.
Coach Sompong Wattana said: ''We have to expect a win if we want to get close to the top this season.''
Four wins on the trot shows how well Phuket is flying, even without AirAsia's help to avoid a long, arduous bus trip.
Sarat ''Tang'' Au-Yen is the only star who won't be on the pitch for Phuket. He has been plucked from the Phuket pack to join the Thailand Asia Games team.
Concern over possible wet weather led to the game being postponed from Saturday but it's still likely to be stormy.
Fortunately Phuket has proved its capacity to do very well when it rains.
Latest FC Phuket may be middle of the table but movement up the ladder is assured after a storming 3-0 victory that holds the promise of much more excitement in Division One.
