Former Phuket player Camara Ahmed, still on the comeback trail

FC Phuket Draws 0-0 But Helps Camara Achieve a Victory

Sunday, July 31, 2011
PHUKET: FC Phuket has drawn its game against Rajapracha Thailand FC 0-0, leaving the Hulks still to score an away win this Division One season.

The no-score draw will disappoint coach Sompong Wattana, who had thought the new players added to the squad mid-season might help to break the away drought.

Next up: BBCU on August 7 in Bangkok - and another chance to win away from Phuket City.

FC Phuket has done better with its moral and social commitment to fallen import star Camara Ahmed, who collapsed from an on-field heart attack at Surakul Stadium in Phuket City last October.

The club has since spent three million baht helping Camara's recovery from his heart-stopping night of horror. As an aid to his recovery, Camara's brother has been employed to help with coaching.

At home in the Ivory Coast, Camara still has a wife and a young infant - born since he has been on Phuket - waiting for him.

FC Phuket Director Narubet Ayupong yesterday thanked Phuket's Hulk fans for all the assistance they had provided in the battle to give Camara a fresh chance at life.

Now out of hospital and living in a Phuket City apartment, Camara is recovering but still has a way to go and may never play quality football again.
