Phuket Dogs, Cats Grow Wheels in Hunt for New Homes

Phuket Dogs, Cats Grow Wheels in Hunt for New Homes

Friday, August 15, 2014
PHUKET: On Saturday August 23, Soi Dog Foundation will be holding its first Puppy and Kitten Mobile Adoptions Event at Central Festival Phuket shopping mall in Phuket City.

Soi Dog plans to hold monthly adoption events around the island to reach out to more of the Phuket community, especially to those who reside in the south of the island.

With nearly 400 dogs and dozens of cats at the shelter, all these animals desperately need loving homes.

There will be puppies and kittens for the whole family to meet, Soi Dog merchandise for sale and the Soi Dog staff can answer any questions regarding adoptions or the foundation.

The adoption team will be on hand to assist with puppy and kitten adoptions and available to chat with any prospective adopters to ensure that all the animals go to good homes.

Soi Dog does not charge any adoption fee. All the puppies and kittens are free to good homes.

''We always get great support from the people of Phuket so we hope to see as many as possible on the day,'' said Cristy Baker, Adoptions Manager at Soi Dog Foundation.

''Adopting a Soi dog or cat means you give them that second chance to live a happy life in their forever home.''

The event starts at 11am and finishes around 4pm in the outdoor area near Wine Connection. Please contactcristy@soidog.org for more details or call 093 685 1332.

This is an excellent idea I would say prompted by the exposure given to homeless dogs in Singapore, where lifesized cutouts are set amongst furniture displays in Ikea. I believe people need reminding that there are alternatives to 'puppy mills' as often as possible, particularly with rescue homes which tend to be off the beaten track. I wish them every success with this. Well done! PS Sue, you're mad.
