PHUKET: The Phuket International Boat Show is moving back three months to the end of Phuket's high season to provide more for spectators.
Traditionally held in Phuket's mid-high season - once with Phuket's King's Cup Regatta but of late as a stand-alone event - the Boat Show (Pimex) next year will be held from March 29-April 1.
Event Director Andy Dowden told Phuketwan today: ''We've made the shift to provide better quality boats on for Phuket, and more of them.
''In past years, a significant group of Phuket brokers have had difficulties getting access to the best boats at a time when most of the boats are being used.''
Some 47 vessels were on show at this year's Phuket event and Mr Dowden says he expects to have 60 at Royal Phuket Marina next time. The crowd of close to 6000 this year is also expected to grow.
Organisers now have an extra three months, too, to come up with some special Phuket Pimex attractions. British supermodels have turned up in the past. Who knows?
Maybe Kate and William will be between events.
Phuket's Raceweek is currently forming the opening round of the newly expanded 2011-12 Asian Yachting Grand Prix.
