PHUKET will be jumping this New Year's Eve the way a holiday resort should. There's no shortage of places to go and fun to be had.

One that caught our eye, though, is the night at the Kata Beach Resort and Spa, a venue with a year-round reputation for great hospitality.

This New Year's Eve will see the KBR running the entire History of Music in their Salathai area, poolside and on the Atrium terrace.

A live band will be celebrating the ''Legendary Super Stars in Concert.''

A few centuries of music have been omitted but the important ones of the rock and roll era will all be represented as the night unfolds.

From 7pm the band will cruise gently through the songs of the 1950s.

Then the party should warm up with the Beatles, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John's star turn in 'Grease,' Michael Jackson and Madonna all making musical contributions in spirit.

From 10pm, the party should be up with the present and slipping into a real groove with a DJ. Later, expect fireworks and a party that goes on into the small hours.

Guests will be in the draw for great prizes, too, and an array of Western and Asian delicacies in the buffet should keep energy levels high.
