A YOUNG Australian who has spent most of his life on Phuket was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend.
He was Kain Bonow, 20, son of Kim Bonow, who runs the well-known Shanti Lodge in Chalong, not far from the circle, and a companion Shanti Lodge in Bangkok.
It is believed Kain died when his motorcycle ran off Chaofa Road West while taking a bend about 5.30 am on Saturday.
He was riding home after visiting his girlfriend in Patong.
His father is Perth-based yachtsman, Rocky Bonow, a long-time Phuket resident and owner of Moonstar, a vessel that has been involved in rescue incidents off the island and the Australian coast.
It is understood Ms Bonow is waiting for Kain's sister to return from overseas before completing funeral arrangements.
Ms Bonow, originally from South Africa, also has two school age children, a girl and a boy, from her second marriage.
